Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme Year 1: knowledge & Problem Solving  

Neurodiversity Youth Programme for Year 11 students across London, Luton, Brimingham, and Leicester 
 

Who is it for? 

Our programmes attracts the following profiles:

Profile A: You are a student who either yourself/ friend/ family member is suspected or confirmed  neurodivergent. You are keen to learn more about Special Education Differences (SPEDs) to make a difference for this person. 

Profile B: You are a student considering a career in either Healthcare/ Psychology/ education & looking for evidence in taking part in evidence-based community sector programme to powerfully boost your university applications.

 

 

Why Join?

You will acquire a range of important transferable skills such as:

​     (a) How to critically analyse information from media outlets and research articles.

AND 

    (b)  How to apply critically evaluated information to solve real word problem's in the neurodiverse community

Intended Learning Outcomes of Knowledge & Problem-Solving Year Programme

(a) Develop and communicate biopsychosocial-spiritual evidence-based knowledge about Dyslexia, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, & Autism.

(b) Apply evidence-based knowledge in context to recognise and suggest neuroinclusive adaptations in terms of education, employment, and wellbeing.

(c) Develop skills in problem-solving, teamwork, public speaking, and leadership which shapes development in transferable skills and advocacy.

What would we provide you?

Great Educators and Mentors

All of our educators are passionate and knowledgeable in the subject of neurodiversity.

Our educators are either current university students or professionals in the area of Law,  Psychology, Neuroscience, Education, Politics, Philosophy, or Medicine.

You will be provided a mentor throughout the programme who will be able to help you feel supported and comfortable throughout the programme.

Career in Focus Sessions

Our Career in Focus sessions will provide you an opportunity to learn from graduates how it is like to work in the sectors of psychology, education & healthcare.

You will then use this knowledge to identify common barriers to neuroinclusion in that sector and provide recommendations in the "Career in Focus Applied" and "Group Problem-Solving Presentations" sessions.

Certificates and Prizes

Each term of the programme has a Group Problem-Solving Presentation Activity  were your group will have a chance to win a £10 Gift Voucher each for best works.

 

A Certificate of Participation will be provided for fully completing the programme. 

The Timetable

Termly Timetables for the Knowledge & Problem-Solving Year (Year 11) Programme

The first 3 themes take place each remotely on a school day between 9am – 3:30pm once in: (a) September, (b) November, and (c) January.

 

You will then have a week long remote summer school between 10am – 3pm in early July.
